Stephen White

Stephen, whose children attended St Birinus and Didcot Girls' Schools, worked for the Atomic Energy Authority in a wide range of roles becoming Director for Strategy and Authority Secretary. From 2003 to 2005 he was responsible for restructuring the Atomic Energy Authority following the adoption of a new national strategy for nuclear decommissioning. In 2009 he joined Babcock International becoming Decommissioning Director. He was awarded the OBE in 2009 for services to the nuclear industry. Stephen is a Director of the Ridgeway Education Trust and hold the positions of Vice-Chairman of the Board and Chairman of the Trust Finance Committee.

Andrew Forgan

Andrew has been a governor at St Birinus for several years and his sons attend the school. He is interested in many aspects of education but believes that every child deserves to be given the best opportunity to reach their full potential. Andrew’s wife works as an examinations invigilator at St Birinus School.

Richard Hadland

Richard is a parent governor and aims to represent the interests of both parents and pupils. He was brought up in South Oxfordshire and has lived in Didcot since 2002. He has two sons at the school.  His experience includes over 13 years supplying ICT and services to education - including working on large capital projects and new school builds. Richard currently works for RM Education. He is a Director and member of the Ridgeway Education Trust and a member of its Audit Committee.

Angus Horner

Angus Horner is a Director of the Harwell Science & Innovation Campus Limited Partnership, plus related companies.  Harwell is the 710 acres science and innovation campus just outside Didcot, at which over 5,000 people use approaching $2 Billion of world leading labs, in open collaboration to improve the human condition. He is a qualified Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and is also Founder and Managing Director of Prorsus Ltd. Angus lives nearby in Blewbury, with his wife and two very young children.  He is engaged in the broader region and seeks to contribute locally, including via a Directorship of Didcot First Ltd.

Andrew Kaye

Andrew is an atmospheric scientist and long-time resident of Hagbourne/Didcot. He works at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory managing the ISIS and Central Laser Facilities User Office. He has been a school governor for more than twenty years, initially at Hagbourne Primary School and since 2004 at St Birinus. Both of his sons attended St Birinus and the Didcot Sixth Form College. As an adult dyslexic, he is passionate about the quality of education children are given and ensuring that it fits their needs and requirements. Andrew is a Trustee of the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Centre and the Chairman of St Andrew’s PCC (East Hagbourne). Andrew is a Director of the Ridgeway Education Trust and a member of the Trust’s Finance Committee.

John Marston

John was appointed Headteacher of St Birinus in January 2016, following four years as Deputy Head. He is a Director of the Ridgeway Education Trust.

Helen Meardon

Helen has been a parent governor for about 9 years, working on a variety of committees. She is a teaching assistant and Sixth Form tutor at a local secondary school. Helen's education includes HLTA, BA(hons) Educational Practice and a PGC Aspergers Syndrome. She enjoys many craft activities such as lace making, knitting and jewellery design. She is also involved with Didcot cricket club as Junior representative and scorer to the first team as well as watching her son play.

John Naughton

After graduating from Manchester University with a degree in Politics and Modern History, John began a career in journalism which saw him work on a number of film and music magazines before he became freelance in 1993. Since then he has written for a wide variety of national magazines and newspapers primarily in the areas of film and sport. Also in 1993, he moved to Didcot where he has lived ever since and both his sons have attended the school. John is a member of the Ridgeway Education Trust.

Sally Scott

Sally lives in Milton and has two sons at St Birinus. She was bought up in North Oxfordshire, moving back to Oxfordshire 10 years ago following a career in London working as Product Manager for PR Newswire. She now works in Human Resources for Henmans Freeth law firm, based in Oxford. Her role covers recruitment, payroll, performance management, training and staff welfare. Sally hopes her HR experience will help enhance and support the dynamic and professional learning environment that St Birinus offers to its students.
