School Health Nurse

Emma Moorhouse is our NHS School Nurse. Her role is to work in partnership with the school to support students to stay healthy throughout their school years, to reach their potential and to make informed lifestyle choices.

The role of the School Nurse is to:
Run Health drop-ins in school
Be someone to talk to confidentially
Give immunisations
Give healthy lifestyle choices advice and support- keeping safe, weight management, smoking, alcohol, drugs, sexual and emotional health
Support teachers with Personal, Social, Health and Enterprise Education (PSHEE)
Make referrals to specialist services
See your son in school if he has been in hospital or A&E
Provide condoms, emergency contraception and pregnancy testing

If your School Health Nurse can't help, they will help find you someone who can.


The School Nursing service is confidential.  This means we can discuss personal information with young people in confidence and will not discuss it with anyone else without their permission.  However we would pass on any information that we feel is needed to protect a young person or someone else from serious harm.  Whenever possible this would be discussed with the young person first.
