Awards and the Leadership Ladder

St Birinus School is a place where active participation is encouraged and recognised through the award system. In Key Stage Three students can be awarded credits, postcards home, phone calls home, publication in The Saint and numerous certificates in the termly celebration assembly. In Key Stage Four and Five, students can receive ‘tear off strips’, postcards home, phone calls home, publication in The Saint and numerous certificates in the termly celebration assembly. These rewards are awarded for excellent conduct, effort, participation, achievement and attitude.

In addition to this students from Year 9-11 may apply for a Leadership Award. These are given in the form of blue ties, for academic aspiration and effort, commitment to the school and local community and commitment to emotional, social and cultural development of the school community. Students can access these awards by applying formally to Miss Froud who will then discuss all applications with Mr Manning. The application dates will be circulated and all student will have two opportunities to apply per year. In Year 11, student may apply for the Award for Leadership and Ethos (full house colours), which will be given out in the formal Awards Evening ceremony.
