Student Clubs

Joining a club is a key part of student life at St Birinus. With more than 40 clubs to choose from, there is something for everyone and plenty of opportunities to explore new interests, develop skills and make new friends.

Our clubs are led by staff who are keen to share their own interests and expertise with students. They provide a great opportunity for students and staff to connect beyond the classroom, helping to strengthen relationships and build a real sense of belonging within our school community.

All clubs are free of charge and take place either at lunchtime or after school, with some music activities also running during extended registration at the start of the day.

Physical, Skill and Belonging

Our clubs are grouped into three categories: Physical, Skill and Belonging. We encourage every student to take part in clubs across at least two of the three categories, helping them to enjoy a broad and well-rounded experience beyond the classroom.

If nothing on the clubs list quite fits, students are also encouraged to start their own! We have a growing number of student-led clubs, supported by members of staff, including Transport Club, Mythology Club and Snooker Club.

When do clubs run?

Our clubs programme is refreshed three times each year:

• Autumn: Terms 1 and 2

• Spring: Terms 3 and 4

• Summer: Terms 5 and 6

Students sign up at the beginning of each long term through an online form, which is shared with them as an assignment on Arbor. Parents and carers are also emailed details of the clubs available each term.

Lower School Clubs Fair

Three times a year, we hold our Lower School Clubs Fair, giving our younger students the opportunity to explore the full range of activities on offer and speak directly to club representatives.

Led by our Student Leadership Team, the fair takes over the Main Hall at lunchtime and is the best way to see the breadth of enrichment at St Birinus; from Alternative & International Sports to Reading Ambassadors, and from Mandarin Club to Coding Club.

Whatever a student's interests, we want every student to find something they enjoy, try something new and feel part of the wider St Birinus community.
