Student Holiday Request

The DFE state that the discretion to grant leave of absence in school term time must be used only in the most exceptional circumstances. Parents/carers do not have the right to take a child out of school for holiday leave during term time. Amendments to the 2006 school attendance regulations make it clear that Headteachers may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances. From St Birinus School perspective, these include:

Parents working in emergency services where holiday is rostered
Parents in the armed forces.
Family wedding of mother or father of student.

Please be aware that it is highly unlikely that you will be granted authorisation, therefore, you need to be aware of the legislation.

Holidays/Leave taken without permission must be recorded as unauthorised.
