Our RET summer concert on Thursday 14th July was a resounding success. Involving over 300 students from Didcot Girls’ School, St Birinus School and Didcot Sixth Form, this was our first live concert since December 2019 and it felt really special to finally be able to come together again in person to hear live music. For many students, this was their first in-person concert since joining the school and everybody was buzzing! The DGS sports hall was packed with an audience of around 500 people who enthusiastically applauded performers. The event exceeded all expectations and everybody delivered exceptional performances. It was a joy to hear such a wide variety of repertoire – from Indian music to contemporary pop. It was also clear to see all the hard work that had gone into the performances: music groups such as Orchestra, Young Voices and Vocal Group have been rehearsing weekly since the start of the year. Although this concert was a first for many, it was also the last for some – several of our Year 11 and Year 13 musicians are moving on and so it was a chance to say goodbye to them.

A big thank you to everyone who came and supported the concert and to all those who made this event possible. Fantastic to see music across the Ridgeway Education Trust thriving!
